This is a rare piece that belongs more at a prayer altar. Restoring it in it’s entirety, apart from the woodworking aspect, involved the work of several different professions; gilding, paint priming (inlaid filaments – ivory – engraved bone and mother-of-pearl), turning.
This was a long-term endeavour – as was fitting for the Ottoman royal families.
