This mahogany lectern is one of those small pieces of furnitures called a mechanical table.
The fitting and the finesse of the different elements that compose it necessitated meticulous cabinet-making work.
Its function is mainly decorative rather than having a true practical use, as is often the case with these small objects.
I restored and reassembled it and gave it a sponge-applied varnished finish.
