Cabinet with engraved ivory on an ebony veneer. This 17th century period piece of Italian Renaissance inspiration is characterised by the quality of the exceptionally refined, engraved ivory ornamentations (landscapes, hunting and fishing scenes and scenes from mythology).
My work involved re-veneering the missing or unstuck engraved ivory parts after having reconstituted the quite dismantled carcass at its turnings – the balusters and corner mouldings. I then proceeded with a cleaning and the application with a wadded cloth of a waxed pore filler.
